Karim Benzema has joined Al-Ittihad on a three year deal.
After the expiration of his Real Madrid contract, the French Footballer has made a move to Saudi Arabian champions Al-Ittihad on a free transfer.
Despite being linked with a big-money move to the Middle East for quite some time, the 35 year old bid farewell to Real Madrid on Tuesday and has joined the Saudi club.
He is believed to have signed a two-year contract with the option for an additional year, which will earn him a remarkable €200 million per season.
“I am excited to see you in Jeddah,” Benzema said in a video posted on Al-Ittihad’s social media channels.
Initially, it was anticipated that Benzema would extend his contract with Madrid, but he eventually decided to follow his former team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo to Saudi Arabia, where they are both expected to compete for the title next season.
Benzemais set to be unveiled in front of a full house in Jeddah on Wednesday, and during the summer transfer window, he is likely to be joined by additional high-profile stars in the Saudi Pro League, with Lionel Messi among those rumored to be linked with a move to the Middle East.
