Manchester United’s Spanish goalkeeper, David De Gea marked his 400th Appearance for the club in their 2-0 win against Leeds United
He reached the remarkable figure of 400 Premier League games played, a feat only attainable by a select few. As highlighted by BeSoccer Pro, De Gea’s 12th season with Manchester United sets a new precedent in some aspects.
De Gea is the only goalkeeper to have surpassed 400 Premier League appearances with a single club. Other goalkeepers who have reached this mark had their appearances spread across different clubs in their careers. De Gea has exclusively played for Manchester United in the Premier League. Jussi Jaaskelainen (379 with Bolton), Hugo Lloris (357 with Tottenham), and Shay Given (354 with Newcastle) trail behind him. In addition to his impressive number of games in the English top tier, De Gea has also become the most-capped Spaniard in the Premier League era.
He is the first player to reach 400 appearances in the competition, outpacing other Spanish players such as Cesc Fabregas (350), Cesar Azpilicueta (342), David Silva (309), Pepe Reina (297), and Mikel Arteta (284). Of De Gea’s 400 appearances, he has played against Everton, Arsenal, and Manchester City the most times (23), followed by Chelsea (22) and Liverpool (21). Unfortunately, Manchester City has punished him the most, scoring 46 goals in those 400 games. Arsenal (32), Everton (28), and Liverpool (27) follow closely behind.
