Juventus will part ways with Angel Di Maria this summer as the winger has chosen not to renew his contract with the club, making him available for a free transfer.
The Argentine’s contract is set to expire this summer, and despite talks of a potential extension, Di Maria confirmed in February that he had not engaged in discussions with the club.
In a shift of transfer strategy, Juventus has decided to pursue a different path that does not involve Di Maria.
Throughout the season, Di Maria made 38 appearances in various competitions for Juventus. However, due to his inconsistent performances, he started only 25 of those matches.
The club has faced a challenging campaign, marked by a capital gains scandal that initially resulted in a 15-point deduction in Serie A.
The punishment was later reduced to 10 points, but the prospect of missing out on Champions League qualification next season poses a significant financial setback for Juventus.
As for Di Maria’s future, the 35-year-old has yet to determine his next destination. While there have been persistent rumors linking him to a return to Argentina and a potential move to Rosario Central, his priority remains staying in Europe to enhance his chances of participating in the upcoming Copa America in 2024.
Looking ahead, Di Maria is expected to feature for Juventus in their penultimate Serie A game against AC Milan on Sunday, under the guidance of manager Massimiliano Allegri.
