LA Galaxy Winger, Douglas Costa is facing an arrest warrant for alleged non-payment of child support.
Currently playing in Major League Soccer with the Galaxy, Costa joined the team on loan from Gremio as a designated player.
The 8th Family Court of Porte Alegre, Brazil issued the warrant on Friday, May 26. If Costa returns to his home country, he will be subject to arrest, as reported by GZH.
In response, Costa’s lawyer, Sergio Queiroz, has stated that the player intends to appeal the decision in order to ensure “justice is done.”
Since his arrival in the United States and subsequent signing with LA Galaxy in February 2022, the 31-year-old has made only four appearances this season and received a red card in the team’s 3-0 defeat against Houston.
After spending a decade in Europe, where he achieved success and won league titles with Shakhtar Donetsk, Bayern Munich, and Juventus, Costa returned to Gremio in 2021 before making the move to Major League Soccer.
