Arsenal’s midfielder, Mohamed Elneny, has agreed to a new contract that will extend his stay at the club until 2024. Elneny, who signed a one-year extension with an option to extend for another year in May 2022, was due to be out of contract at the end of the current season.
Despite having a challenging season with injuries, which has limited his appearances to just eight in all competitions, Elneny is thrilled to continue as Arsenal’s longest-serving player.
Elneny expressed his happiness in a statement following the announcement, saying that he loves the club and its supporters and will give everything to help the team be the best it can be. He joined Arsenal in 2016 from Swiss club Basel, and he has made 155 appearances for the team.
Elneny struggled under former Arsenal manager Unai Emery, which led to his loan to Besiktas for the 2019-20 season, where he played 36 times. However, he returned to Arsenal for the following season, and since then, he has played a vital role under the guidance of manager Mikel Arteta.
With the positive spirit and togetherness that the team currently possesses, Elneny is delighted to have extended his contract and is looking forward to contributing to Arsenal’s success in the future. Despite his recent injury setback, the midfielder remains optimistic and eager to get back on the pitch to help his team.
