Manchester United and Tottenham were the Victors in today’s round of English Premier League fixtures.
At Old Trafford, Marcus Rashford continued his impressive run of form by scoring twice to lead Manchester United to 3-0 victory over Leicester in the Premier League. The talented forward, who is currently in the best form of his career, took his season’s goal tally to 24 with two clinical finishes in each half at Old Trafford. Rashford’s goals were a result of expertly executed passes from Bruno Fernandes and Fred, which he confidently converted into the back of the net.
Despite a late goal by substitute Jadon Sancho that secured the win for United, Leicester had created better chances in the game but failed to find the back of the net due to the superb reflexes of United goalkeeper David de Gea. De Gea made crucial saves, including a stunning reflex save to deny Harvey Barnes from close range, and kept out Kelechi Iheanacho’s diving header with another excellent stop.
The victory for Erik ten Hag’s side ended Leicester’s three-game unbeaten run, and the inconsistent season has left them in 14th place in the Premier League table
Elsewhere, Tottenham secured a home victory against struggling West Ham, allowing them to move into the top four of the Premier League. The game’s opening goal came from the Spurs wing-backs’ effective link-up play, with Ben Davies setting up Emerson Royal for a shot into the bottom corner. Four minutes after coming on, substitute Son Heung-min sealed the win for Tottenham when he received a through ball from Harry Kane and calmly finished past Lukasz Fabianski.
Despite the opportunity to move above both Bournemouth and Everton with a draw, West Ham suffered their first defeat in five matches in all competitions, leaving them in the relegation zone at 18th place. Tottenham moved one point ahead of Newcastle, although Eddie Howe’s side has a game in hand, having been beaten 2-0 at home by Liverpool on Saturday.
