Fabio Paratici has left his position as managing director of football for Tottenham Hotspur.
The 50-year-old made the change after losing his appeal against a 30-month suspension from Italian football that Fifa extended “to have worldwide effect.”
After Juventus, where Paratici worked as managing and sporting directors before joining Spurs, were found guilty of incorrect accounting, Paratici received a suspension.
However, Paratici’s appeal against his ban, which he got in January, was denied. Paratici began working for Tottenham in June 2021.
“The present worldwide suspension restricts Fabio from performing his duties as our managing director of football,” a Spurs statement read:
“Fifa ruled to extend the ban worldwide and, although there remains to be a debate as to the breadth and extent of the restriction”.
“To focus on his legal position in relation to the FIGC (Italian Football Federation) and Fifa judgements, Fabio has decided to resign from his job at the club with immediate effect”.
The 15-point penalty against Juventus was reversed, and the matter will now be reviewed.
Late in March, Tottenham fired Antonio Conte as their manager, and Paratici stated that he and the team were “focused” on moving forward and hiring a replacement before Fifa extended his suspension to include the entire world the following day.
Scott Munn has been hired by Tottenham as the club’s board and is in charge of all football-related areas.
