Herve Renard, the former head Coach of Saudi Arabia is poised to become the next head coach of the French women’s national team.
He is set to take over from Corinne Diacre, who was dismissed from her position following the announcement by several key players that they would no longer play for France under her management.
Renard’s appointment means that he will lead the French team at this year’s Women’s World Cup, scheduled to take place in Australia and New Zealand from 20 July to 20 August.
On Tuesday, the Saudi Arabian Football Federation announced that Renard had requested to terminate his contract with them.
The French Football Federation has offered the 54-year-old the position of women’s coach.
Renard led Zambia and Ivory Coast to the AFCON title in 2012 and 2015 respectively, he also led Saudi Arabia to a famous 2-1 Victory over Argentina during the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in 2022.
