Alejandro Garnacho is getting closer to signing a long-term contract extension with Manchester United after the player and the team apparently reached an agreement on a deal in principle.
Garnacho has emerged as United’s rising star this year, evolving from a scrappy teenager with a clear attitude issue to the club’s next superstar potential.
With his direct sprinting, trickery, and goal-scoring prowess, the Argentine has Old Trafford spectators on the edge of their seats. These attributes, in United’s opinion, qualify him for a new contract.
Although Garnacho’s present deal expires in 2024, negotiations have been going on for a while, but according to ESPN, new conditions are almost certainly about to be agreed upon.
According to reports, Garnacho and the club have reached an agreement on a five-year contract; the only hurdle before the deal is signed is a concern over the player’s image rights. It, however, is not anticipated to be a problem.
After emerging as a key member of Erik ten Hag’s squad, the 18-year-old will receive a sizeable pay increase that will transition him from an academy salary to a first-team player’s wage. This pay rise will continue to grow as he participates more actively.
Garnacho has benefited from the attention and doesn’t seem to mind the expectations placed on him or the early comparisons to some of the club’s greatest players.
According to reports, both sides engaged in contract negotiations are eager to finalize the new agreement as quickly as possible to avoid any distractions during a crucial period of the season when United is still playing in four different competitions.
Garnacho has scored three goals and assisted seven goals in 25 appearances so far this season.
