Manchester City’s manager, Pep Guardiola has been crowned the Premier League Manager of the Season for the 2022/23 campaign.
This accolade marks his fourth time receiving the honor, having previously achieved this feat in the seasons of 2017/18, 2018/19, and 2020/21.
Guardiola’s latest triumph comes as a result of guiding Manchester City to their third consecutive Premier League title, placing them on the precipice of a remarkable treble.
They have an upcoming clash against Manchester United in the FA Cup final this Saturday, followed by a showdown against Inter in the Champions League final the following weekend.
Throughout the season, Man City found themselves trailing behind Arsenal for a significant period, with the Gunners spending a record-breaking 248 days at the top of the table, despite not ultimately clinching the title.
The Citizens experienced a period of experimentation and tactical adjustments during the first half of the season, eventually settling on a 3-2-4-1 system, effectively orchestrated by the prolific goal scorer Erling Haaland, who set new records along the way.
Guardiola’s achievement places him second on the list of managers with the most Premier League Manager of the Season awards, surpassed only by the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson of Manchester United, who boasts 11 wins.
Since the award’s inception in 1992, only three other managers have claimed it multiple times. Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho have each secured the honor three times, while Jurgen Klopp has taken it home twice.
