Political Thugs have set ablaze the Ebonyi State High Court sitting in Owutu Edda Community in Afikpo South Local Government Area, barely 24 hours after the conclusion of the governorship and house of assembly elections.
According to reports, the Registrar of the Court, Mrs Oluchi Uduma said that the hoodlums invaded the court 2am on Tuesday and set the whole building ablaze.
She also reveal that youths of the area made efforts to stop the fire and also attempted to capture the suspected arsonists but they fled.
Uduma also stated that some hoodlums had on the 15th of this month attempted to set the court ablaze but failed.
Confirming the incident, the chairman, Afikpo South Local Government Area, Chima Ekumankama said the local vigilante team deployed to the court was distracted by someone who called them to come to a nearby school, only for the court which they were guarding to be set ablaze.
He noted that the matter was reported to the police while efforts were made to arrest the perpetrators.
