Trent Alexander-Arnold, the defender for Liverpool, expressed his disappointment in his team’s performance against Bournemouth on Saturday, stating that it was “unacceptable.”
Despite having previously beaten Bournemouth 9-0 this season, Liverpool suffered a 1-0 loss to the struggling team, with Philip Billing scoring the only goal in the first half.
Mohamed Salah missed a penalty in the second half, and Alexander-Arnold believes that Bournemouth simply had more desire to win than Liverpool did.
In an interview with the club’s official website, Alexander-Arnold commented on the situation, saying,
“This is the stage of the season when everyone knows what they are fighting for, and obviously Bournemouth are in a relegation battle. They are fighting for survival.
However, every team in the league is fighting for something, so getting the three points means a lot. Looking back on it now, they probably had more determination than us, and that is not acceptable. We must ensure that this type of situation does not happen again.”
Liverpool’s unexpected loss to Bournemouth has damaged their chances of finishing in the top four and securing a spot in the next season’s Champions League.
Currently, the Reds are six points behind Tottenham, though they do have a game in hand.
So far, they have only managed to win three out of 13 away games in the Premier League.
