Yaya Toure, the former combative midfielder of Manchester City, has expressed his belief that his former club are still favorites to win the Premier League title this season.
However, he acknowledges the strength of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side and recognizes that the title race will be highly competitive.
Currently, Arsenal and Manchester City are both in contention for the title, with the Gunners currently leading the league while City are in second place, trailing by only two points. Toure is hoping that his former club will emerge victorious, but he acknowledges that Arsenal cannot be underestimated.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Yaya Toure, a former midfielder for Barcelona, made comments while accepting the Football Writers’ Association Tribute award.
“At this moment, Arsenal are performing fantastically well, and the pressure is on both teams. We’ve seen results where Manchester City lost a point while Arsenal managed to secure three points in a tough game where they were twice on the back foot. I hope Manchester City will ultimately emerge as champions, but both teams are currently in fantastic form and in the running for the title”.
Arsenal lead the way on the Premier League table with 54 points, while Manchester City remain in 2nd place with 52 points.
