There are reports that Mason Mount, a 24-year-old midfielder for Chelsea, may leave the team unexpectedly this summer due to contract negotiations at Stamford Bridge. Mount is seeking a “significant increase” on his current deal, which is set to expire in 2024, but there has been little progress between him and Chelsea during discussions.
As a result, other Premier League teams such as Liverpool, City, and Manchester United have expressed interest in signing Mount. ESPN reports that this stalemate has alerted these clubs, but their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham may hinder their ability to make a concerted effort to sign Mount due to the expected high costs.
According to sources, Mount is not eager to leave Chelsea and discussions about a new contract are anticipated to continue. However, Chelsea might choose to sell him because he will only have one year remaining on his current deal. There have been indications that Juventus has expressed interest in Mount, but he is reportedly willing to consider playing for a different English club even though he has been loyal to Chelsea for a long time.
Mount has scored 27 times in 126 appearances for the blues since his debut in 2019 winning The UEFA Champions League in 2021. He has also scored 5 goals in 36 caps for England.
