Newell’s Old Boys coach Gabriel Heinze believes Lionel Messi’s return to his boyhood club is unlikely due to recent threats from gunmen.
It was reported that threats were sent to Messi recently and his wife, Rocuzzo’s store was attacked on Thursday.
The attackers left a message for Messi with a caption “We Are Coming For You” after firing 14 shots at a food store owned by his wife’s family, warning him of danger and accusing Rosario’s mayor of being a drug dealer.
Heinze expressed concern for Messi’s safety and that of his family, and believes the incident will discourage him from returning to Argentina.
While Messi’s contract with PSG is set to end soon, he reportedly has no plans to join MLS or return to Argentina, instead aiming to continue playing in Europe at the highest level.
