Following his departure from Paris St-Germain, Lionel Messi is set to join MLS side Inter Miami
Despite being offered a more lucrative deal by Al-Hilal, a club from Saudi Arabia, Messi has opted for the Miami-based club.
The Inter Miami deal involves collaborations with major brands like Adidas and Apple.
Having won the Balon D’OR seven times, Messi is expected to receive the award again this year following his success in the World Cup.
This marks the first time that the Barcelona icon will be playing outside of Europe.
While he initially intended to continue playing in Europe for another season, he ultimately had to choose between Inter Miami and Al-Hilal due to the lack of satisfactory offers.
Messi already owns a house in Miami, which he currently rents out.
Although he was interested in returning to Barcelona this summer, the Financial Fair Play restrictions that will be in place in La Liga next season made it impossible for him to do so.
