Jesse Lingard’s forgettable stint at Nottingham Forest has reached its conclusion as the club officially announced its decision not to engage in contract negotiations for a new deal with the player.
Lingard leaves Nottingham Forest with No Premier League goals or assists to his name Now a free agent
The former Manchester United midfielder joined Nottingham Forest as a free agent last summer amidst a flurry of high-profile signings.
His substantial weekly wages, amounting to a staggering £120,000, suggested that he would make a significant impact at the renowned City Ground.
However, Lingard’s time at the club turned out to be yet another calamitous chapter in his career, as he failed to register a single goal or assist in 17 Premier League appearances. The confirmation of his departure came from the club on Friday.
The club issued the following statement on their official website:
“Following the conclusion of the 2022/23 Premier League campaign, Nottingham Forest hereby announces its retained list. Six senior players’ contracts have expired: Andre Ayew, Cafu, Jack Colback, Jesse Lingard, Jordan Smith, and Lyle Taylor. Additionally, six academy players will be departing the club as they embark on new chapters ahead of the 2023/24 season: Billy Fewster, Alex Gibson-Hammond, Ryan Hammond, Nicky Hogarth, Adnan Kanurić, and Lewis Salmon.
“The club extends its gratitude to each player for their contributions during their tenure at The City Ground”.
Serge Aurier has triggered an automatic one-year extension to his contract, while our three loan players, Keylor Navas, Dean Henderson, and Renan Lodi, have returned to their respective parent clubs. Chris Wood’s loan deal from Newcastle United will be made permanent once the summer transfer window opens.”
