PGMOL has apologized to Brighton three times this year after they were wrongfully denied a straightforward penalty against Tottenham on Saturday.
In their 2-1 loss to Tottenham on Saturday, Brighton should have been awarded a penalty after Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg stomped on Kaoru Mitoma’s foot in the area.
However, both referee Stuart Atwell and VAR decided against it.
PGMOL has since acknowledged that Brighton should have received a penalty for the event and has apologized to Roberto de Zerbi’s team.
On Saturday, Brighton suffered the consequences of multiple dubious judgments, having three penalty claims rejected and two goals disallowed for handball.
Coach, De Zerbi also lost his cool after a heated argument with Cristian Stellini, his opponent, on the sidelines.
PGMOL has apologized to Brighton three times this year, once for not ejecting Liverpool’s Fabinho from the FA Cup and once for making the wrong call on an offside against Crystal Palace.
