According to reports, Real Madrid are scheduled to have discussions with Eden Hazard regarding his future as there is interest in the Belgian from MLS. Hazard joined the Blancos in 2019 but has since struggled with form and fitness, and his contract is set to expire in 2024.
The 2022-23 season has been another forgettable one for Hazard, having played only 98 minutes of La Liga action and featuring in only seven games for Real. He has not played in the league since September 11, 2022.
Unfortunately, such struggles have become commonplace for Hazard during his four years at Santiago Bernabeu. Fabrizio Romano suggests that Real is preparing to part ways with the player who still has a little over 12 months left on his contract.
The club is set to have discussions with Hazard’s representatives in the coming weeks, with the general consensus being that it would be best for all parties to separate.
Real Madrid will consider bids for Hazard either now, with links to MLS teams, or during the summer transfer window in Europe.
It is unlikely that they will recoup much of the €100 million (£89m/$107m) they invested in the Belgian back in 2019, but any fee would offer them some return on what has been a failed experiment.
