Barcelona’s women’s team, Barca Femeni, dominated Atletico Madrid with a 4-0 victory in their Liga F match on Saturday, extending their winning streak to an incredible 60 games and taking their league goal difference to an impressive +100.
Aitana Bonmati scored the first goal in the 28th minute, assisted by Caroline Graham Hansen, before Vicky Lopez scored in the 47th minute.
Aitana then turned provider for Hansen’s goal just before the hour mark, and scored her second goal in the 89th minute to seal the rout.
This result puts Barcelona 16 points ahead of Real Madrid in second place and gives them their 25th consecutive league win this season, while their total goals scored has now reached an astounding 105 goals.
This is Barca’s fourth consecutive Liga F title, and their run of 60 straight victories in all competitions is an unprecedented achievement in Spanish football, surpassing the previous record held by the men’s team of 16 straight wins.
Interestingly, Barca’s women’s team has also surpassed the records set by other top European clubs, with Monaco holding the record in France with 16 consecutive wins, Inter Milan holding the record in Italy with 17 wins, Manchester City with 18 consecutive wins in England and Bayern Munich holding the record in Germany with 19 wins.
