Champions Napoli secured a 3-1 victory over 10-man Inter Milan with a late strike from Giovanni Di Lorenzo, earning them three valuable points.
Despite Romelu Lukaku’s late equalizer, Napoli had different plans as their captain beautifully curled the ball into the net from outside the box with only five minutes remaining.
The first half progressed at a slow pace, lacking significant action until midway through when Andre Onana comfortably saved Victor Osimhen’s header.
On the other hand, Simone Inzaghi’s Inter struggled to pose a threat in the attacking third due to their deep defensive approach and lack of attacking outlets upon winning possession.
Their task became even more challenging when Roberto Gagliardini received his second yellow card just before halftime, reducing Inter to ten men.
In the second half, Napoli sought to take advantage of their numerical superiority. Despite Di Lorenzo and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s shots being saved, they eventually broke the deadlock through Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa.
Initially, Inter failed to respond effectively, but Denzel Dumfries’ header was cleared off the line before Lukaku equalized from close range.
However, Di Lorenzo’s subsequent goal rendered Inter’s efforts fruitless as he skillfully found the top corner of the net.
To seal the victory, Gianluca Gaetano scored in injury time, further solidifying Napoli’s impressive performance and securing another triumph on their home turf.
