Barcelona are on the brink of clinching the La Liga title after a hard-fought victory over 10-man Osasuna at the Nou Camp.
Substitute Jordi Alba scored the winner in the 85th minute with a brilliant strike from outside the box. Osasuna had Jorge Herrando sent off in the first half for a professional foul on Pedri, and despite being a man down, they defended resolutely until Alba’s late winner.
The victory puts Barcelona 14 points ahead of Real Madrid, who lost 2-0 to Real Sociedad on the same day.
Barcelona will secure their first title since 2019 if they win their next game against Espanyol on May 14th.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s hopes of catching up with Barcelona were all but extinguished after their 2-0 defeat at the hands of Champions League hopefuls Real Sociedad.
After a tight first half, Real Madrid fell behind when Eder Militao’s backpass sold Thibaut Courtois short, allowing Takefusa Kubo to score.
Dani Carvajal was then sent off for two bookings in quick succession, and substitute Ander Barrenetxea sealed the victory for Real Sociedad with a late second goal. The loss leaves Real Madrid 14 points behind Barcelona with just five games left to play.
