Nigerian talent manager, Muyiwa Awoniyi better known as Donawon has revealed how Grammy award winning artist, Tems conducted prayers and worship during her time in Ugandan prison in 2020.
He made this known while speaking in a recent interview on Madeux Podcast.
Speaking on the arrest,He recalled how Tems was arrested in Uganda in 2020 alongside Omah Lay.
Tems and Omah Lay had broken Uganda Covid 19 rules which got them arrested and detained by country’s police.
He said he was very scared and worried about her when she was taken to the female prison because he wasn’t there with her and he wouldn’t know what they were going to do to her in his absence.
Donawon narrated how he got to Tems Prison only to find the singer leading the praise and worship inside the prison with other inmates.
In his words “I have been through a lot of refining, so entering prison now, They were taking Tems to the female session of the prison but I was very worried about her because I was not with her. What the hell is going on? I came to find out that Tems was leading praise and worship in the prison and everybody was singing with her”
Why was Tems and Omah Lay arrested by the Ugandan police in 2020?
In 2020, Grammy Award winning singer Tems and Omah Lay were arrested in Kampala, Uganda after the duo allegedly broke the Covid 19 rules.
There was a massive protest on the internet that involved Nigerians asking Ugandan government to release the duo.
They were later granted bail after their arraignment in an Ugandan court.
