In the first leg of their UEFA Europa League semi-final, Juventus managed to secure a 1-1 draw against Sevilla thanks to Federico Gatti’s 97th-minute equalizer.
Gatti headed the ball into the net from two yards out after Paul Pogba had impressively kept the ball in play, redirecting a Danilo header that was headed wide.
Although Youssef En-Nesyri had opened the scoring for Sevilla in the 26th minute, converting a cross from Lucas Ocampos, they were unable to capitalize on their dominance for large periods of the game.
En-Nesyri and Ocampos both missed good opportunities to extend their lead. Juventus were largely uninspiring, with Gatti’s goal being only their second shot on target in the match.
Meanwhile, in the other Europa League semi-final game, Edoardo Bove scored his first-ever European goal to give Jose Mourinho’s Roma a 1-0 advantage over Bayer Leverkusen.
Bove’s goal came after Tammy Abraham’s shot was saved, and he passed the ball into the bottom corner. Leverkusen’s best chance came in the sixth minute when Florian Wirtz shot wide.
Although they had an opportunity to equalize in the 86th minute, Jeremie Frimpong’s attempt after a Rui Patricio mistake was blocked.
