Marcelo Bielsa has been Appointed as the new manager of the Uruguay men’s Football National team.
The 67-year-old Argentine has been without a Job since Leeds United fired him in February 2022.
He recently discussed their then-open managerial posts with Bournemouth and Everton.
Two-time winners of the World Cup Uruguay was unable to qualify from their group at the World Cup in Qatar last year.
Bielsa also guided Leeds United back to the Premier League in 2020 after a 16 year absence.
Prior to joining the Premier League, he held managerial positions in France, Italy, Spain, and Argentina. From 2007 to 2011, he also served as Chile’s manager for four years.
Since February, Marcelo Broli has held the position of temporary head coach following the nation’s dismal World Cup campaign.
In Fifa’s global rankings, Uruguay is currently ranked sixteenth.
