Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, has promised to make amends for past disappointments and win back the love and support of fans.
The in-form Napoli star pledged to give his best and score as many goals as possible to help the Super Eagles secure a spot in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Ivory Coast.
Following the national team’s failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Nigerian supporters remain disillusioned.
However, Osimhen expressed gratitude for their unwavering support and reiterated his focus on helping the team perform at its best. He is expected to lead Nigeria’s attack against Guinea Bissau on Friday at the Abuja National Stadium.
“We don’t underestimate our opponent and will give them the respect they deserve as a team,” Osimhen said.
“I promise that we will do everything possible to get the win and qualify for Afcon. We want to win back the love and support of our fans, and we will give everything to make that happen.”
The Super Eagles are currently at the top of Group A with maximum points from two matches played. A win against Guinea Bissau could secure their place in the 2023 competition, following Sierra Leone’s 2-2 draw with Sao Tome & Principe on Wednesday.
With five goals to his name, Osimhen’s impressive form is expected to continue in the crucial game.
