Karim Benzema criticized Didier Deschamps and accused him of lying in response to the France manager’s recent interview regarding his injury during the World Cup.
The Real Madrid forward sustained an injury during training and was sent home before the tournament began in Qatar.
Benzema’s representative, Karim Djaziri, claimed that the striker would have been available for the knockout rounds and supported his argument with a video.
However, Deschamps stated in an interview with Le Parisien that he did not ask Benzema to leave and that it was the player’s decision.
Deschamps explained that when Benzema injured himself, the team doctor accompanied him to a clinic for an MRI scan.
After receiving the results, Deschamps informed Benzema that he could organize his return with the Team Manager, but when he woke up, he found out that the striker had left on his own.
Benzema refuted Deschamps’ assertions and used his Instagram account to respond, sharing a story post with the caption “What audacity” in reference to the interview.
He followed it up with another story featuring a video of a man calling Deschamps a liar, which he captioned with further mockery of the coach, using the phrase “Sacred Didier” accompanied by a clown emoji.
