The presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has promised to eliminate the out of hand strikes by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) if elected president of the federal republic of Nigeria next year.
Peter Obi made the promise on Wednesday at a campaign rally in Jalingo, Taraba State.
He said the welfare of lecturers would be prioritised by his administration.
“The 50 months of ASUU strike in Nigeria since 1999 was a disaster against actualizing a productive nation through good education,” he said.
He said he would ensure that Nigeria moved from a consumption to production nation.
Peter Obi also promised to make Taraba State a hub for economic activities.
