England’s midfielder Phil Foden will miss the Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine on Sunday as he underwent an appendix removal surgery.
There will be no replacement called up by Gareth Southgate for Foden, leaving him with 20 available players for the game at Wembley.
Reece James, the Chelsea full-back, also withdrew on Saturday due to an “ongoing issue,” while Luke Shaw is suspended following a red card in the previous game against Italy.
Marcus Rashford and Nick Pope had to drop out, with Fraser Forster from Tottenham replacing Pope.
England won their second European Championship qualifier in Group C after a 2-1 victory over Italy with goals from Harry Kane and Declan Rice in Naples.
