The Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has promised to investigate the fire incident that occurred at Onitsha Main Market on Tuesday, with the plans of preventing it from happening again in the future.
Soludo expressed concern over the early morning fire that destroyed two-story building within the market and other shops around that leads to loss of multi-million naira worth of goods.
The governor gave the assurance in a statement by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, on Wednesday.
The statement read, “Soludo has commiserated with traders at the Onitsha Main Market over the fire incident that razed down their shops.
“The governor expressed sadness over the early morning fire on Tuesday that razed a two-storey building within the main market which consumed some shops leading to loss of goods.
“The governor again reiterated the need for all to be extra vigilant in preventing outbreaks of fire incidences in the markets, offices and even our homes
“He commended the efforts of the Fire-fighters and other security agencies who battled to contain the inferno
“Soludo further assured that government will investigate the incident with a view to preventing future occurrence.”
