The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the All Progressives Congress candidate, Nasir Idris, as the winner of the governorship election in Kebbi State.
There’s a huge celebration across the state follwoing the victory while the supporters of PDP remains despondent as how they lost the poll.
Announcing the result of the supplementary election held last Saturday, the Returning Officer, Professor Saidu Yusuf, said Nasiru Idris scored 409,225 votes against his closest rival, General Aminu Bands, of the PDP who has 360,940 votes.
In his acceptance speech, Governor-elect Idris promised to run an all-inclusive government promising to build on the existing achievements of Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.
He further said, “Let me use this opportunity to thank our teeming supporters who turned out en masse to vote APC into the office to continue enjoying the dividends of democracy.
“To those who we contested with from other parties, you should know we have no other state than Kebbi. You should therefore join hands with us to move the state forward,” he said.
