Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed that Romelu Lukaku will not be signed on a permanent deal from Chelsea at the end of the season.
Lukaku, who was reduced to a substitute in a recent game, has struggled with injuries and inconsistency, resulting in just five goals in 17 appearances this Season.
Despite his previous success at Inter, Lukaku’s return to San Siro has not gone as expected.
Marotta candidly discussed Lukaku’s future after Inter’s recent 0-0 draw with Porto, stating that the loan agreement was only for one season, and regardless of how well Lukaku plays, he will return to Chelsea on June 30.
“Regardless of whatever happens, he (Lukaku) will return back to Chelsea in the summer. The loan was supposed to last for one season and it expires on the 30th of June“. Marotta said.
Marotta also attributed Lukaku’s struggles to the demands of the World Cup and his lack of fitness this season.
