Jorge Sampaoli has been dismissed by Sevilla after only five months into his second tenure as manager.
He had previously left the club after his first season in 2017 to lead the Argentina national team.
However, his return to Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán in October has been cut short, with his termination occurring on Tuesday following a recent 2-0 loss to Getafe.
The team currently sits in 14th place in LaLiga and is only two points clear of the relegation zone.
It is widely speculated that former coach of Alavés, Eibar, and Athletic Club, José Mendilibar, will be appointed as the 63-year-old’s successor.
Mendilibar will take charge of upcoming La Liga games against Cadiz and Celta Vigo and the Europa League Quarter Finals tie against Manchester United in April.
