Grammy award winning Nigerian Singer, Temilade Openiyi professionally known as Tems has been criticized for the choice of outfit she wore to the 95th Oscars that was held last night in Los Angeles.
Tems wore a stunning dress from LEVER SS23 COUTURE made by Ukrainian-born LA based fashion designer, Lessja Verlingieri.
Viewers of the award show described Tems as rude stating that her outfit blocked other guests at the award night from seeing the audience.
She was criticized across social media platforms like Twitter as seen below

“Imagine waiting your whole life to be at the Oscars and you end up sitting behind a stratus cloud”
@Asiwajulerry wrote:
“Let us put sentiments aside, Wetin Tems do the people behind her no good at all”
Social media influencer Daniel Regha also had this to say about the outfit
“Tems’ outfit to the 2023 Oscars is good but inappropriate due to the intricate headpiece; She should’ve swapped seats with someone at the back. Hopefully she learns from this. She also needs to start promoting Nigerian fashion by wearing native wears to big events (occasionally). “

“Why she go wear mosquito net for head?”
Another Twitter user wrote :
“I feel Africans always overdo everything. Even people wey go collect award no do reach this one”
Another Twitter user wrote
“Nigerians and rubbish fashion….She for carry canopy for head nah..”
One Ace lord wrote
“She needs to be called out, just look around and see if there is any one with such outfit, great outfit for the wrong environment makes absolutely no sense.”
Tems was one of the nominees for the 95th Oscars for her works on “Lift me up” with Rihanna, it was nominated for best original song category but they lost to Naatu Naatu’ (from RRR) .
