German coach, Jurgen Klinsmann, has returned to football management as he takes charge of South Korea.
The 58-year-old German, who savoured global glory as a player and managed the USA at the 2014 World Cup, was last in coaching with Hertha Berlin in 2020, but left after just 10 weeks at their helm.
He has now agreed to a three-and-a-half-year contract with Korea, which will take him through the 2026 World Cup finals that will be co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
Klinsmann has succeeded Paulo Bento as Korea boss and is set to make his debut in a home friendly against Colombia in Ulsan on March 24, with a meeting with Uruguay scheduled four days later.
In his words, Klinsmann expressed his happiness and honor to be following in the footsteps of great coaches who have directed the Korean national team, and he promised to do his best to achieve successful results in the upcoming Asian Cup and 2026 World Cup.
