Sources close to the family said the Christmas celebration for members of his family was bleak and tragic considering the role and position he occupied in the family.

The victim, who was until his death the Coordinator of Ishielu Development Centre in the Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, was said to have crashed owing to over-speeding while in transit.

It was gathered that he died on the morning of Christmas Day while receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.

His corpse has already been deposited at the mortuary.

Reacting, the Chairman of Ishielu Council area, Mr. Obinna Onwe, described his death as a colossal loss to the council and the state at large.

He called on the family of the deceased to take consolation in the Lord, as only Him knew the real reason behind every event on earth.

Another aide to the governor was shot dead by suspected kidnappers a few weeks ago in Anambra State.

The victim, Leonard Alegu, who was a member of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly Service Commission, was shot by gunmen.

It was gathered that the incident occurred in the late hours of penultimate Saturday, on the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, Umunya community, in the Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State.

A source revealed that the deceased was travelling from Abakaliki to Onitsha to attend a child dedication ceremony when the incident occurred.

It was further gathered that the deceased stopped to urinate by the roadside when his killers accosted him, and in the process of struggling to escape from them, he was shot in the stomach, while the killers made away with his vehicle and phone.
