Gambia secured their first-ever U-20 Africa Cup of Nations qualification by defeating the Flying Eagles of Nigeria 1-0 in the semi-finals.
Adama Bojang’s early goal was the deciding factor in Monday’s match against Nigeria, who have won the tournament seven times in the past.
The Flying Eagles were given a chance to equalize through a penalty, but substitute Ahmed Abdullahi missed the target. Gambia, who haven’t conceded a goal in the tournament so far, will now face Senegal in the final.
The Flying Eagles will take on Tunisia in the third-place match. Despite being reduced to 10 men following a reckless challenge in the 89th minute, Gambia held on to secure their place in the final.
