Jorginho may be an important player for Arsenal as they contend for the Premier League title, according to Alan Shearer, who supports Arsenal’s choice to acquire him from Chelsea.
Jorginho’s contract at Stamford Bridge was about to expire, so Chelsea last month decided to transfer the 31-year-old player and reached an agreement on a £12 million deal with London rivals Arsenal.
Jorginho played more than 200 times for Chelsea over the course of his five years in west London, where he contributed to Italy’s Euro 2020 victory.
The Italian won the Super Cup, Club World Cup, Champions League, and Europa League at Stamford Bridge, although his influence had been waning when he left.
Despite this, Shearer, a Premier League great, has lauded Arsenal’s signing of Jorginho and emphasized that he will bring a “depth of experience” to a team that is vying for its first league championship since 2004.
On BBC Radio 5 Live, the former England striker remarked, “Arsenal are a very, very excellent team with a tremendously bright and cerebral manager in Mikel Arteta.”
“I genuinely appreciate the signing of Jorginho.” He will provide a lot of knowledge and the ability to triumph and cross the finish line.
There will still be a lot of difficult decisions to make and difficult moments to navigate in the upcoming months.
Who better to sign in January than a man with Jorginho’s experience who has succeeded at every level?
On Saturday, Jorginho made his Arsenal debut at Goodison Park by substituting in the second half of Everton’s shocking 1-0 victory.
Despite the fact that it was only Arsenal’s second loss of the year, Mikel Arteta was quick to compliment his squad and declare that he now “loves” them more more than he did before the loss.
We created a lot of chances despite having a lot of the ball, but Arteta claimed that we lacked direction and quality in the final third. But after that, they slowed down the game and we had trouble.
They do this to every team, and since height and physicality are both strengths for them, controlling this is essential if you want to win the game against them. Today, we chose not to do that.
We needed to maintain our composure and better manage our emotions during the game. Because we handed away so many pointless free kicks.
“I adore them considerably more now than I did last week or a month ago.” Being close to someone who is winning well is simple. All of these players continue to make me incredibly proud; they merit it.
“This will not be a rose-colored pathway.” We will have to persevere and play much better than we did today because this is going to be challenging.
Following Manchester City’s loss to Tottenham, Arsenal, who lead the Premier League by five points, will attempt to beat in-form Brentford the following weekend.
