Manchester United’s manager Erik ten Hag is optimistic about Antony’s recovery from his ankle injury and believes the Brazilian winger will be fit to face Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
Antony’s injury occurred during the Red Devils’ impressive 4-1 victory over Chelsea in the Premier League, leaving his season in doubt. However, Ten Hag has provided a more positive update on the player’s condition.
Reflecting on the incident, Ten Hag acknowledged the initial concerns surrounding Antony’s injury. “We’ve all seen how he came off and didn’t look great,” he stated in an interview with MUTV.
“But the first assessment is not too bad, and there is a good opportunity for him to be available for the Cup final next week.”
Looking at the bigger picture, Ten Hag recognizes the significance of having all his attacking options at his disposal, especially against Manchester City.
As the Red Devils strive to secure their second trophy of the season and thwart their rivals’ treble aspirations, a fully recovered Antony would be a valuable asset.
The two teams have previously clashed twice in the Premier League this season, with City emerging as 6-3 victors at the Etihad in October, while United triumphed 2-1 in the return fixture at Old Trafford in January.
