The funeral for Christian Atsu, a Ghanaian footballer who tragically passed away during the earthquake in Turkey in February, was held in Accra, Ghana.
The event was attended by hundreds of individuals, including the country’s president and the manager of Ghana’s national football team, Chris Houghton.
Atsu’s body was discovered two weeks after the earthquake in his apartment building, and he was later returned to Ghana for burial in his hometown in the southeastern part of the country.
Duringt service, Atsu’s widow, Marie-Claire Rupio, delivered a moving speech that was accompanied by hundreds of mourners who were close to Atsu.
“In Life, you are my love, in death you will also remain my love“. Atsu’s wife Marie said
Atsu played for several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Everton, and also made 65 appearances for Ghana, where he was awarded player of the tournament and goal during the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations final.
