Barcelona are close to securing the signing of Ilkay Gundogan from Manchester City on a free transfer.
Although City offered the 32-year-old midfielder a new contract, it is believed that he negotiated a more lucrative three-year deal with the Spanish champions.
Despite City’s desire to keep Gundogan, who played a key role in the club’s Treble win this season, he has decided to move on.
In the 2022-23 season, Gundogan played 51 games, scoring 11 goals, including six in his final seven games, which were crucial in City’s success.
He played the full 90 minutes in the Champions League final, helping City secure a 1-0 victory over Inter Milan to add to their Premier League and FA Cup triumphs.
Gundogan’s departure comes after City agreed to sign Croatia midfielder Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea for £30m.
