According to French news reports, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is about to leave Chelsea for Los Angeles FC.
The 33-year-old was removed from Chelsea’s Champions League squad last week to allow room for Joao Felix, Mykhailo Mudryk, and Enzo Fernandez to be added to the 25-man list because he has struggled to make an impact since joining from Barcelona last summer.
Aubameyang’s chances of playing time appear to be drastically diminished for the remainder of the season as a result of Chelsea’s decision to buy five new attacking players in the January transfer window.
Le10 Sport reports that Chelsea and Los Angeles FC have agreed to loan Aubameyang to the latter part of the season.
According to the report, only a few minor elements need to be worked out before the deal can be finalized, and Aubameyang must still agree to join the Major League Soccer team.
In 17 appearances since signing for Chelsea in a ÂŁ10.3 million trade last September, Aubameyang has only scored three goals.
Thomas Tuchel, who was fired by Chelsea only days after the striker moved to Stamford Bridge, asked for the 33-year-old to be signed.
As a result of his exclusion from the Champions League roster, Aubameyang missed last Friday’s scoreless draw with Fulham and was seen in Milan with his brother.
Los Angeles FC’s new MLS season is scheduled to start later this month; their opening match is on February 26 versus LA Galaxy, a rival.
