Stan Collymore is certain that if Jurgen Klopp left Liverpool, Chelsea would be among the teams wanting to hire the German as manager.
Since moving to Liverpool from Borussia Dortmund in 2015, Klopp has had great success, winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, Super Cup, and Club World Cup. However, he is currently facing a lot of pressure.
That’s because Liverpool is currently 10th in the Premier League standings and 11 points off the top four despite having a terrible season thus far in 2022–23.
They have already been eliminated from the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup, and they will play Real Madrid, the current Champions League champions, in the round of 16.
After losing to Wolves 3-0 on Saturday, Liverpool will play Everton in a Merseyside derby. Sean Dyche’s team just defeated league leaders Arsenal.
Former Liverpool striker Collymore believes Chelsea would be among the teams interested in signing Klopp if his old team decided to fire him or if the 55-year-old decided to go.
Under head coach Graham Potter, who only took over for Thomas Tuchel in September, the Blues are likewise having a bad year and are currently ninth in the Premier League table.
Collymore told Caught Offside, “The truth is, if FSG sack Klopp, there is no one else out there better able to perform a better job.”
Anyone asking for his departure should exercise caution because, if he suddenly became available, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, PSG, and even Chelsea would be lined up to sign him.
I still don’t think Jurgen Klopp should be facing the firing at Liverpool, he continued. I am aware that they are having a terrible season, but we must consider more than simply the last six months.
“Keep in mind where Liverpool was when he arrived; they were in terrible shape!”
They were underwhelming, seldom competitive, and unable to draw in star players.
Klopp “single-handedly changed all of that” and “went on to win every trophy conceivable along the road.” He didn’t simply make them a successful team; he entirely altered their playing style.
