Manchester City claimed an impressive 2-0 victory over Newcastle thanks to Phil Foden’s exceptional solo goal, and Bernado Silva’s second half goal. The defending champions maintain their pressure on Premier League leaders Arsenal. Foden’s 15th-minute strike involved him smoothly moving in from the right side and holding off two opponents before his shot was deflected into the net by Sven Botman.
Newcastle, however, showed great resilience and caused City plenty of trouble. But their hopes of a comeback were put to bed midway through the second half, when City substitute Bernardo Silva scored a goal to make it impossible for the Magpies to catch up.
With this result, Manchester City have closed the gap on Arsenal to just two points. The Gunners will face Bournemouth later in the day, while Newcastle remain fifth in the league, four points behind Tottenham.
