Leeds United’s hopes of avoiding relegation from the Premier League suffered another setback as they suffered a 2-1 loss to Fulham at craven cottage.
Harry Wilson and Andreas Pereira found the back of the net in the second half to seal a victory for the hosts.
The win saw Fulham move up to ninth in the league and strengthened their chances of finishing in the top half.
However, the defeat meant that Leeds remained in 16th place, just two points above the relegation zone. Everton, Nottingham Forest, and Leicester City, the teams below them in the standings, were yet to play on Saturday.
Wilson broke the deadlock in the 58th minute with a quality first-time finish following a shaky save attempt by Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier.
Pereira doubled the lead when Meslier once again failed to deal effectively with a cross. With just 11 minutes remaining, Leeds found a glimmer of hope as Joao Palhinha’s own goal reduced the deficit. Despite eight minutes of stoppage time, Leeds were unable to find an equalizer.
