According to reports, Chelsea midfielder, Enzo Fernandez has expressed his desire for former River Plate boss Marcelo Gallardo to be appointed as the permanent manager of the club.
Fernandez and Gallardo previously worked together at River, where the latter gave the former his debut in the first team back in 2019.
UOL, a Brazilian outlet, states that Fernandez still considers Gallardo as a paternal figure and has given his approval for Chelsea to pursue the move.
Gallardo is reportedly close to being appointed, and despite being out of management since leaving River in November, he is eager to test himself against the Premier League’s strength.
It’s worth noting that the final decision on Gallardo’s appointment will be made by the Chelsea hierarchy, as they consider other high-calibre names such as Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique.
Fernandez and the team will focus on their upcoming UEFA Champions League quarter Final game against Real Madrid
