Meanwhile, Italy bounced back from their defeat to England with a routine victory over Malta in their Group C qualifier.
Mateo Retegui scored his second goal in two appearances for the European champions to put them ahead, while Malta midfielder Matthew Guillaumier added an own goal to make it 2-0 to Italy.
This victory sees Italy sitting in second place in Group C after two matches of qualifying.
