Former striker for Coventry and Wolves, Cedric Roussel has passed away at the age of 45.
Roussel, who earned three caps for the Belgian national team, joined Coventry from Gent in October 1999 and formed a partnership with Robbie Keane.
He later transferred to Wolves, another Midlands club, in February 2001 and remained there for 18 months before returning to his native Belgium to play for Mons.
“Our legend and ambassador Cedric Roussel passed away this Saturday,” Mons said in a statement on Twitter.
“The RAEC Mons family is devastated by this news and offers its most sincere condolences to Cedric’s family and loved ones. You marked our history”
Roussel experienced his greatest success during his two stints with Mons, although he also played for various other Belgian clubs as well as teams in Russia, the Netherlands, Italy, and Cyprus.
