Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Chelsea women’s Footballer Sam Kerr won the Football Writers Association (FWA) Player of the year for the Male and Female category.
Haaland is having a historic first season at Manchester City, scoring 51 goals in all competitions.
A new record for a single season in the top tier has been set with 35 of those coming in the Premier League.
Haaland won by a huge margin after his sensational debut season in England, scoring 51 goals so far for Manchester City as they aim for a remarkable treble.
The FWA stated on the organization’s website:
“In the vote among our 800 or so members, Haaland and Bukayo Saka were neck and neck for a while but ultimately won by a landslide“.
While that was going on, Kerr has continued to be a talismanic force for Chelsea, reaching the 20-goal milestone once more as she attempts to lead the Blues to yet another WSL championship.
Kerr becomes the first player to win the Women’s Footballer of the Year award twice.
The Australian received twice as many votes as Chelsea’s Lauren James (four votes), who finished second to Rachel Daly of Aston Villa and England.
