Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola confirmed on Friday that Erling Haaland is fit to return for Saturday’s Premier League trip to Southampton.
Haaland had missed City’s 4-1 victory over Liverpool last weekend due to a groin injury that had forced him to withdraw from international duty with Norway.
His return is a timely boost for City’s aspirations to win a treble of trophies in the final two months of the season.
Guardiola stated that Haaland trained well in the last two days and will be ready for the match.
“He has trained for the last few days, he will be ready” Guardiola said during his press conference today.
City will play Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final just three days after their trip to St Mary’s.
Although Southampton are currently at the bottom of the table, they had defeated City in their last encounter in the League Cup.
Guardiola anticipates another challenging game as City have only won twice in their last five visits to St Mary’s.
